The Austin Marathon is this weekend and I am leading (pacing) the 3:10 group.
I love to coach. In my daily life of working with athletes, I am “outside the arena” and this is the one time I get to be “in the arena”. Being out on the course, working with athletes while they achieve something special, is like a cherry on the top of the sundae.
To me, pacing a group of runners is helping them achieve their goal, assisting them as they work through a difficult challenge, supporting them, guiding them, and helping make important decisions over the course of the 26.2 miles. We celebrate regardless of the results.
So, here’s my question: What do you want from your coach/teacher/instructor when they step into the arena with you? Maybe you’ve been in the arena helping others achieve their goals, and have some tips for me?
I’d love to hear from you. Can't wait to let you know how it goes.
Regards,
Nils
